As a responsible corporate citizen, Compagnie de Mont Choisy Limitée has undertaken a broad programme to support the communities in which it operates and protect the environment through its social and environmental responsibility initiatives. Mont Choisy Corporate Social Responsibility (MCCSR) Ltd was launched in 2016 to manage these initiatives. A budget of around Rs50 million will go towards financing the Group’s various social and environmental initiatives over a five-year period (2016-2021).
The Group is committed to supporting social development in the villages around the Mont Choisy Park and identifying various areas on which to concentrate its support. The main focus areas are education, training, development, entrepreneurship, health, environment, leisure, sports, culture and community development.
Environmental commitment
The Mont Choisy Group is also dedicated to environmental protection. Agreements have been signed with the relevant authorities and other private sector operators, among others for wastewater treatment and solar power generation. An agreement has thus been signed with the Wastewater Management Authority for the treatment of wastewater to be used for irrigation of the entire Mont Choisy Le Golf course and land under cultivation on the Mont Choisy estate. The Group has also signed an agreement with Solar Field Ltd to provide the latter with some 3 hectares of land for solar energy production. This resource is redirected to the power supply circuit of the Central Electricity Board (CEB).
